Certified Child Life Specialists are educated and clinically trained in the developmental impact of illness, injury, and trauma.
Infants, children and youth confront a wide variety of stressful and potentially traumatic events that can impact their ability to cope. These experiences can lead to feelings of fear, confusion, loss of control and isolation that can inhibit their development and have negative effects on their physical and emotional health and well-being.
In both healthcare and community settings, Certified Child Life Specialists help infants, children, youth and families cope with the stress and uncertainty of acute and chronic illness, injury, anxiety, trauma, disability, loss and bereavement. They provide evidence-based, developmentally and psychologically appropriate interventions including therapeutic play, preparation for procedures, and education to reduce fear, anxiety, and pain.

I have over 18 years of experience working as a Child life specialist. My experiences range from working in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, in the Infant and Toddler Unit, in the Hematology/Oncology clinic, and 13 years of working in pediatric and perinatal palliative home care. I have also co-facilitated a children's bereavement support group in Rochester, NY and co-facilitated multiple programs for siblings called SibsROCK. I Although I love all aspects of my profession, my heart is in providing end of life and bereavement support to children and their families. My experiences have also provided me the ability to help children navigate the Covid pandemic and the emotional and social struggles that our children are facing.
I have my Masters degree in Special Education (Birth-2nd grade) and I am currently teaching Pre-K in the Wayland-Cohocton School. Most importantly, I am a mom to 3 children of my own.
My goal is to provide quality Child life support that is specifically tailored to the needs of you and your child(ren). A parent consult will be scheduled to discuss your concerns and goals and we will work together to create a plan to best support you and your child(ren).
I have an office space that is located in Victor, NY.
